Now that you know how to log into your google account we will see how to create a blog. In case you find the screenshots are not clear to you, just click on them for a bigger view.
Step 1 : Go to : http://www.google.com/
If you have a gmail account like yourname@gmail.com enter it against “E-mail” and your gmail password against “Password”. Else if you created your google account using your yahoo or other email id enter yourname@yahoo.com or whatever it is against “E-mail”. And against “Password”, type in the password you used to register your google account.
Step 3 : Click on “Create a blog”.
Step 4 : Against “Blog Title” type in whatever it us that you want to call your blog.Against “Blog address” type the blog address you choose. You can try using your full name separated by hyphens (dashes).
Step 5 : Click on “Check availability” which is in blue to see if the blog address is already taken up by someone else. If it is, you will get a message like below : “Sorry, this blog address is not available”.
Step 6 : Repeat the process of first typing in a different blog address and then clicking on “Check Availability” till you get the message “This blog address is available” as in the picture below.
Step 7 : Against “Word verification”, enter into the box the letters that you see above it. This is to tell blogger that you are really a human and not a robot. See example below. Then click on the big orange arrow which reads “CONTINUE”.
Step 8 : If your “Word verification” was incorrect, you are asked to do a different word verification a second time. Do it and then click on the big orange arrow which reads “CONTINUE”.
Step 9 : Here you are asked to select a template. The one selected by default is the first one i.e. Minima. For this first time, we will take it as it is. Later you can experiment with different ones. So, click on the big orange arrow which reads “CONTINUE”.
Step 10: You now get the message that your blog is created. Click on the big orange arrow which reads “START BLOGGING”.
Step 11 : Enter the title you would like to give to your very first post of your first blog. I have entered “How to make a google account”. See picture below. In the body, enter you text. You can select the font from just above, choose bold, italics, formatting, buletting, etc. as in Microsoft Word or other editors you normally use. You can add pictures by clicking on the button which says “Add image” to it’s right below when you hover over it. See picture below. Against “Labels for this post” at the bottom, feed words which are called keywords which will help people find your blog if they search for blogs containing them.
Step 12 : If you click on the “Add image” button, it will open a window like the screenshot below. Click on the “Browse” button and select the file from wherever it is on your PC. Then click on one of left, Right, Center to decide on where you want to place it horizontally. You can select from Small, Medium and Large for the image/picture size. I have used Large here. You try one first and then experiment later once you get the hang of it. Then click on the orange button which says “UPLOAD IMAGE”. Scroll down if you can’t see it or maximize the window. Please note that the picture gets loaded at the top of the post and then you can copy it and paste it where you like within the post.
Step 13 : After you finish typing in the text in the body of the post as shown below, click on the orange button which says “PUBLISH POST”.
Step 14 : You will see a message that your blog has been successfully published.
Step 15 : You can now view your blog. Click on the link “in a new window” so that you can continue editing your post or adding new posts here. You will see your blog as in below. The blog address is the one at the top in the address bar. You can give this to your friends so that they can view your blog. It will look like the picture below.
Step 16 : If you want to make changes to the post, click on “Edit Post” that you see in the picture in Step 14. Or click on “Create a new post” next to it to make a new one. Or if you click “Edit Posts” or “Posting” you should get a screen like below. To select a particular post, click on the tiny square to the left of “Edit View” – I have circled it in red in the picture below. Once a tick mark appears there, you can either edit it which means to modify or just view it and even delete it by clicking on “Delete” to the far right.
